POLINAHE
Lorna Lim
Na Mele Hula `O Hawai`i
Lorna Lim's beautiful voice, her deep knowledge of hula, and her connection to the Big Island's music tradition place her among Hawaii's living treasures. Born and raised in the North Kohala district on the Big Island, she began playing music at an early age with her siblings and parents, an award-winning family musical group known throughout Hawaii simply as 'The Lim Family'. Her sister Nani is one of Hawaii's most renowned Hula teachers, and her Grammy nominated brother, Sonny, is one of Hawaii's top slack key guitar players. Lorna's performances have taken her throughout North America, Europe, and Japan.
Lorna recorded Polinahe for hula dancers in a style that reflects her personal musical tradition. The translation of the title - poli, meaning from the heart, and nahe, meaning sweet and pure - sums up Lorna's musical style and the beautiful quality of her voice.
Produced, engineered and mixed by Charles Michael Brotman at Lava Tracks Recording Studio in Kamuela, Hawaii.

Honolulu Star Bulletin 09/11/09:
"Lorna Lim makes another significant contribution ...with this exquisitely crafted album. "Polinahe" is now an obvious front-runner in several categories for the 2010 Hoku Awards, and it would represent Hawaii beautifully at next year's Grammy Awards. Lim transcends the language barrier with the sweetness of her voice."
